_This story was really interesting since it dealt with Carla's perception of herself as it related to how men viewed her. Having just broken up with her ex-boyfriend she seeks the comfort of her old flame Brian just to be rejected. She associates her past physical relationship with him as an acceptance of her as a person, when in reality he could still accept her without a physical component. It's a difficult concept for Carla to grasp as she is closely tied to her body and how it transfers into power in relationships for her. As Brian moves on and gets a fiance she loses power in the relationship which is signified by her feeling of rejection. Another perspective of the female body is Carla's younger cousin who is still working to master control over herself as well as how others perceive her. While she tries to wear mature clothes and hit on older men it is clear that she lacks a mastery over her self, and she is also rejected in lieu of another prospect.
